Sharjah Transport Corporation (STC) has installed new bus stops for route 113 (Sharjah-Al Qusais) and route 308 (Sharjah- Jebel Ali-Al Qouz), both routes Dubai bound.
A Inter City Transportation manager at STC, Adel Khaleel Al Hosany said that the new bus stops were commissioned on Thursday on Al Maliha, King Faisal and Al Wahda roads, to ease bus travel for commuters between the two cities.
“We erected five bus stops on Al Maliha for commuters of route 113 travelling from Sharjah to Al Qusais area in Dubai, namely on the First Industrial Road, the Third (J.N.B) the Tenth (Gecko), the Eleventh (Roundabout Bin Laden), and the Fifteenth (National Paints).”
“STC added two stops on King Faisal Street for buses heading to Jebel Ali, Al Quoz No. 308, namely, Petrol Station Adnoc and Emax, and at Al Wahda street we added three bus stops at the City Centre, Max, and at Al Khan bridge on the same route,” Al Hosany added.
He pointed out that the bus route 111 (Sharjah International Airport-Dubai) has been modified by adding Deira area in Dubai within the route to serve (Sajaa, Sharjah International Airport, and the industrial field 5) in Sharjah, and also Al Qusais area, Dubai Metro station and the bus station in Deira.
“Currently Sharjah’s inter-city fleet boasts of slightly over 120 buses,” Al Housni said. “The majority, over 80, travel to Dubai and Ajman, while 26 others are deployed to the Northern Emirates of Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Khor Fakkan and Al Hamriya area. The rest go to Al Ain (10) and Abu Dhabi (15),” he added. He noted that STC is keen to provide comfort, safety and to ease travel for passengers by developing the transport network commensurate with the urbanisation and population growth in Sharjah.
“The new points are one of the strategic initiatives and the essential foundations for integrating the transport network between cities.
“The new move is likely to prove favourable among users,” Al Hosany concluded.
