The commute between Abu Dhabi and Dubai may be slashed to 30 minutes if the inventors of an electric “superbus” have their way. The Superbus concept, the work of an astronaut and a former Formula One aerodynamics expert, will be showcased at the Commercial Vehicles Middle East trade event in Dubai from March 14.
THE number of deaths caused by traffic accidents in Dubai during 2010 dropped to 153 compared to 225 in 2009. Emirates Gas LLC (Emgas), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Dubai government-owned energy group Enoc has invested $30 million (Dh110 million) into the first phase of its infrastructure building programme for the distribution of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
Mr. Abdullah Al Madani CEO of RTA's Technical Corporate Support Services Sector announced that the RTA would launch new categories of Nol Cards used in paying fares of all mass transit means including the metro, public buses and the water bus besides paying for the parking fees in all over Dubai Emirate.
While coming into land, the Airbus A330-200 pilot spotted another aircraft already on the same runway and took off immediately after initially touching down. "Emirates flight EK 523 from Trivandrum to Dubai landed at 0722 on November 7, 2010. The aircraft initiated a go-around sequence at the time of landing, after momentarily touching the runway,” an Emirates spokesperson said, in an emailed reply to Arabian Business.
The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC), Roads & Transport Authority, has made 15,834,000 trips lifting in the process 23,751,000 passengers in six months this year (Jan to June) through daily operations and several events served in the Emirate. While revealing the statistics of DTC Fleet Operations Department, Director Yousef Mohammed Al Ali confirmed that all sections were ready to meet the daily requirements and needs of the fleet including repairs, maintenance and cleaning of 3504 affiliated taxicabs deployed as follows: Airport Taxi: 350 cabs, Hatta Taxi: 3 cabs, District Taxi: 20 cabs, Ladies Taxi: 26 cabs, and Commission Taxi: 3105 cabs.
H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), announced that the Contractor of Dubai Metro Project; Dubai Rail Link (DURL) Consortium; is set to complete all the remaining works in the stations on the Red Line (18 stations) on 25 April 2010, and that all works in the stations on the Green Line will be completed in August 2011.
