DUBAI // One woman was killed and 16 others injured in a traffic accident on Thursday morning.
The coliision involved a bus and a pickup truck on Amman Street, Muhaisnah 2, at about 9.30am. Maj Gen Anas Al Matroushi, director of the Transport and Rescue Department at Dubai Police, said: “The driver of the pickup truck failed to stop at a red light and braked suddenly and with force, which made the vehicle swerve to the left and go over the barrier between the two parallel roads.
“The truck then crashed into a bus transporting employees, resulting in the death of one woman and the injury of 16 people.
“The driver of the pick-up truck sustained serious injuries.”
Of the people injured, nine sustained minor injuries and seven were serious. All were taken to Rashid Hospital. More info
