Dubai: Quality of transportation offered by a school will reflect on its rating, a senior Roads and Transport Authority said.
Presenting the safety and technical features of Emirate Transport’s Smart Bus, which is being touted as the ideal system for school buses, RTA’s Hussain Al Banna said that every school give top priority to improving safety and quality of transportation.
“The specifications that RTA has are minimum and schools should try to do more in terms of adopting technology that will offer more convenience and safety for pupils,” said Al Banna, who was speaking during a workshop at RTA’s First School Transport Conference, which concluded on Tuesday.
Among the initiatives that are being undertaken in public schools across UAE are the Golden Base and the pilot on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID).
“Golden Base is an initiative that educates pupils on the boarding and disembarking the bus in a proper manner. We have put up markings in 400 public schools that forms a base for the buses in school to pick up and drop buses,” said Jasem Al Marzouqi, CEO of School Transport Department at Emirates Transport.
