A Malaysian delegation has recently paid a visit to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to review the processes of the Booking and Dispatch Center and the Bus Operation Control Center in the context of sharing expertise and knowledge in running public transport and taxi services.

2The visit started with a detailed explanation about the systems in use at the Booking & Dispatch Center enabling customers to book taxicabs. Discussions focused on communication channels enabling customers to book taxis through telephone calls, apps of smart-phones, website (for hotels & registered public entities), and text messages. Visitors were also acquainted with the Automated Voice Response (AVR) service in addition to other taxi services such as booking for the disabled, women’s taxi, family taxi and taxicabs with dedicated child seats among others.

Delegation members were also briefed about the automated bus movement management system; the first smart e-system for monitoring bus operation in the Middle East. They were also acquainted with the role of the Bus Operation Control Center in reducing the operational costs, and transforming the planned journey timetables into real-life timetables that meet the needs of bus riders.

Abdulla Yousef Al Ali, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency said: “The visit of the Malaysian delegation reflects the growing regional and international profile of RTA in adopting best-in-class standards in delivering a variety of transit services. The sophisticated technologies in use are kept in high regards by entities associated with transit services. This prompts many parties to explore the accumulated experiences of RTA, which is also quite keen on hosting various delegations to share expertise & knowledge in relevant areas.” More info
