All public school buses in Abu Dhabi are to be monitored in a new scheme announced by education chiefs.
The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) unveiled the plan yesterday as part of an initiative to upgrade transport in the capital and ensure the safety and security of children on their way to and from school.
The tracking system will be implemented with the help of Emirates Transport. It will be used to help select the best routes for buses so that students have shorter journeys, said engineer Khaled Al Ansari, manager of the school services division at ADEC.
“This system will be implemented after collecting and entering information on student addresses into ADEC systems,” he noted, adding that parents will be able to obtain travel details such as their child’s estimated arrival times, time spent in the bus and the driver’s name.
“Parents will be notified via SMS if there are any changes in travel plans such as delays, a new route location, bus breakdowns or if students fail to get on or off the bus,” said Al Ansari. More info
