Sharjah — The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has added 10 luxurious coaches to its intercity public bus fleet.

Yusuf Saleh Al Suwaihi, Chairman of the SRTA, on Wednesday said the 10 new buses are part of the first batch of the new 65-seat air-conditioned intercity buses that will join the fleet this year.

“The King Long buses will be operated on the Rashidiya route No 113 and the Jebel Ali — Al Quoz route No 308,” Al Suwaihi said.

Abdul Abdulaziz Al Jarwan, Director of Transport Affairs, said: “The authority inked a contract with the Western Auto Company for the luxurious buses in August last year to ensure a convenient trip for long-distance passengers.”

The SRTA bus fleet will have 29 more buses by the end of June this year, he said. “The new buses will attract more passengers to the public shuttle service.”

Rashid Mahbub, Acting Manager of Intercity Transport, said a trip on the new bus will cost Dh10 on the Rashidiya route, while the Al Quoz route trip will cost Dh15. More info
