Two weeks after an Abu Dhabi court sent three people to jail and ordered a school’s closure over the death of a four-year-old student on a schoolbus, the UAE’s largest transport provider has revealed its plans to beef up security on its fleet of buses.
Roads and Transport Authority, RTA, has recently launched the Self-Service Devices for drivers at the Agency, as part of the endeavours of the Drivers Affairs Department to improve and upgrade the services rendered to public bus drivers.
International City, Jumeirah Village, Dubai Investment Park and Dubai Design District will be added to the bus network of the emirate this year.
The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) announced the timings of its services during the holiday marking the 43rd National Day including Customer Service Centres, paid parking zones, public buses, Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, marine transit modes, and driving schools as well as vehicles testing & registration centres.
In a move to increase the number of people commuting by bus, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is rounding off a month-long competition, which selected one bus rider each day as the winner of a Samsung Galaxy S3. Any passenger who checked in and out of a public bus in Dubai between December 14 and January 14 automatically became eligible for the competition, explains Ahmed Mohammed Al Hammadi, Director, Bus.
