Busy road to close for almost three months
One of the busiest roads in Sharjah will be closed for almost three months from today as work to upgrade the emirate's motorway network begin. The Dh17.5 million project to extend Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saqr Al Qasimi Road, one of the main roads in the emirate, will take around 75 days, officials from the Sharjah Department of Public Works (DPW) announced.

Taxi driver jailed for raping passenger
A taxi driver was sentenced to five-year imprisonment on Tuesday for raping a British woman passenger in his cab after giving her a ride to her villa in the Springs. The 48-year-old Pakistani driver earlier denied the charge in the court.
